대사관을 배경으로 이루어지는 이야기지만 그렇게 디테일한 묘사가 나오는 것은 아니다. 16세 여자아이가 주인공이고 주인공 엄마의 죽음을 둘러싼 진실을 찾아가는 과정의 이야기이다. 글의 전반은 심심하다. 물론 몇몇 부분에 있어서 암시적인 표현들이 등장하지만 솔직히 지루하다. 하지만 중반을 넘으면 이야기에 몰입도가 생긴다. 그리고 마지막 반전은 독자에 따라서 예상을 할 수도 있겠지만 비교적 좋은 전개라는 생각이 든다. 아쉬운(?)점은 이 책은 시리즈물이라 그런지 ....(모든 시리즈물이 다 그런건 아니지만 ... ) 이 책이 모든 사건의 결말을 다 보여주는 것은 아니라는 것이다. 즉, 다음 작품에 대한 새로운 이야기전개를 암시하면서 끝난다. 영어문장이 평이하고 책의 구성이 비교적 편하게 되어 있어서 읽기가 쉬운 편이다.
