코지 미스테리 장르의 소설이다. 이 책에서도 고양이는 등장한다. 게다가 말까지 한다 ! 이 책의 작가는 정말 고양이를 좋아하는거 같다. 이 책의 About the Author 를 보면 "SHIRLEY ROUSSEAU MURPHY has received six National Cat Writters Association Awards for Best Novel of the year for the Joe Grey books ..." 라는 소개의 글이 있다. 작품속에서 등장하는 고양이에 대한 생생한 묘사는 작가의 고양이에 대한 지식이 깊다는 것을 알 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 여러가지 상을 받을 만하다는 것을 알 수 있게 해준다. 고양이를 좋아하는 독자들은 좋아할 만한 책이다. 개인적으로는 좀 지루한 감이 있었다. 진도는 잘나가는 책이지만 개인적으로 좋아하는 문장구성은 아니었다. 핵심어는 CATs, murder, cheat, cars, counterfeit, chase, metamorphosis 등의 단어들이다. 외국 독자들의 반응은 다음과 같다.
