코지 미스테리 장르의 소설이다. 내용은 재밌는데... 이런 저러 이유로 시간이 좀 걸린 책이다. 사실 요즘 소설이나 영화보다 더 미스터리한 일들이 일어나고 있으니... 아무튼 재밌게 읽었다. 코지 미스터리가 가져야 하는 특징들을 다 가지고 있다. 내가 읽은 다른 작품들에 비해서 중심 사건이 너무 일찍 발생했다는 점이 이 책을 계속 읽게 되는 원동력이 아닌가 싶다. 사실 이 책의 약 60 % 는 주변적인 이야기다. 즉 사건을 이해하기 위해서는 전체를 읽지 않아도 된다는 것이다.  그럼에도 불구하고 계속 읽게 되는 이유는 이 책에 등장하는 인물들의 매력 때문이다. 전형적인 인물들의 출현이기도 하지만 민폐적인 인물들이 많지 않고 주인공의 시점으로 이루어 지기 때문에 읽기에 쉽다. 중심 어는 personal history, murder, date, marriage, shark, parent, domestic violence, innocent, cookie, loss, family 등이다.
