"apartheid"라는 단어가 이 책의 중심어이다. 남아프리카공화국에서 행해진 "인종차별" 을 이 책은 잘 보여주고 있다. 제목처럼 태어난것이 죄가 되는 그런 차별적 사회를 주인공 나름의 유머를 사용하면서 비교적 잘 전달하고 있다. 이 책을 읽기 전에는 TREVOR NOAH 라는 사람에 대해서 전혀 몰랐는데 ... 이 책을 읽으면서 검색을 해보니 나름 유명한 사람인거 같다. 직업은 코미디언이라고 하는데 ... 다른 분야에도 참여하고 있는거 같다. "apartheid" 라는 인종차별정책에 대하여 잘 알 수 있는 기회를 제공한다는 면에서 이 책은 읽을만한 가치가 있지만 이 책에 등장하는 가슴에 와 닿는 표현들은 이 책을 더 가치 있게 만드는 거 같다. "If you're Native American and you pray to the wolves, you're a savage. If you're African and you pray to your ancestors ........ that's just commonsense" "... so many other smaller incidents in my life, made me realize that language, even more than color, defines who your are to people."
