이 작품은 장편이지만 문장이 비교적 쉽기 때문에 읽기가 편하다. 다만 내용이 살인 사건을 제외하면 '뜨개질' 에 관한 이야기가 대부분을 차지하기 때문에 '뜨개질'에 대하여 관심이 없는 독자들은 좀 지루 할 수도 있을 것이다. cozy mystery의 성격을 충실히 따르는 작품이어서 코지 장르의 분위기를 충분히 즐길 수 있다. 책의 내용이나 등장인물들이 비교적 가정적이고 따뜻한 분위기를 준다. 이 책의 중요한 전환점은 다음의 문장이 아닌가 싶다.
