Red Delicious Death (An Orchard Mystery Book 3) by Sheila Connolly

"I am excited to have stumbled up Sheila Connolly's apple orchard series. This was a well-written, easy to read cozy mystery. So often, I will stumble upon a series, only to pick up a book that falls smack-dab in the middle, which I did with this series. It was such a great book, though, that I'm going to go back and read the first two installments. Connolly does a great job of capturing the characters, weaving an intricate story that is easy to follow. She does an excellent job of describing each character so that the reader has a vision of both their physical appearance and personality. I felt as I was reading this book that I was part of the story, and was very sad to see it end! I also love how she ties this book into current trends, i.e. the locavore food movement, and shares recipes using local ingredients ..." 

이 작가의 '과수원' 시리즈가 가장 읽기에 편한거 같다. 코지 미스터리 장르가 가지는 장점뿐만 아니라 시골의 모습이 현실적으로 묘사되기 때문에 읽으면서 전원생활에 대한 막연한 생각은 하지 않게 된다. 인물들도 정감이 가고 '과수원'이나 미국의 또 다른 모습을 알게 해주는 작품들이다. 문장도 평이고 책의 구성도 읽기에 편하다. 잔잔한 미드 한 편 보는 느낌이다. 다만 이 작품은 '미스터리'라는 측면에서는 좀 지루한 편이다. 잔인하거나 독자들을 사로잡는 현란한 장면은 전혀 없다.
