When a small whole was available a strong light was held and they looked and saw a body in there. So they worked at the concrete wall breaking it apart more until they could get inside. 장편의 작품이다. 2차 세계대전의 악몽과 나치를 피해 미국에 온 사람들의 슬픈 사연 등 긴 내용을 담고 있는 것은 사실이다. 하지만 깊이가 좀 부족하다. 다양한 인물들의 묘사나 인물 간의 관계에 대한 표면적인 이야기의 나열이 많고 긴장감이 좀 떨어지는 편이다. 인내심을 갖고 끝까지 읽었다. 문장이나 표현은 다른 작품들처럼 쉬운 편이다.
