2002년에 일본어판이 나왔고 무라카미 하루키의 70회 생일을 기념하기 위해서 펭귄출판사가 영문판을 출간했다고 하는데... 출판된 나라의 언어적 특성이나 편집에 따라 다르겠지만 22 -- 88페이지 정도의 단편소설이다. 아주 쉬운 문장이지만 무라카미 하루키 씨의 작품 분위기를 잘 보여준다. 다만 그의 소설이 그렇듯... 독자들로 하여금 다양한 해석을 하게 만들기 때문에 이 작품을 처음부터 끝까지 읽는 시간보다 읽고 난 후에 더 많은 생각의 시간을 갖게 된다. 특히 영어판의  "No matter what they wish for, no matter how far they go, people can never be anything but  themselves. That's all"이라는 문장은 독자들의 흥미를 유발하는 거 같다. 재밌게 읽었다.
