약 130페이지의 Novella 형식의 작품이다. 시리즈가 다 끝났는데 왜 이 책을 출판했을까? Rose Gardner 시리즈에 대한 작가 나름의 팬서비스가 아닐까 하는 생각을 해본다. 대단원의 'SHOWDOWN' 후에 등장인물들의 근황(?)에 대한 독자들의 궁금증에 대한 작가의 배려가 아닌가 하는 생각이다. 실종, 새로운 가족관계, 제국의 몰락과 정의의 실현, 인물들 간의 미묘한 변화, 다음 작품들에 대한 힌트... 책의 구성을 보면 알겠지만.... 다음 시리즈의 소개와 선전도 중요한 부분을 차지하는 거 같다. 주요 인물들 Rose, Joe, Neely Kate의 관점에서 이야기를 해주기 때문에 이 시리즈를 계속 읽어왔던 독자들에게는 충분한 팬서비스가 아닐까 싶다. 시리즈 전체적으로 문장은 평이하고 낯선 표현들이 좀 있지만 이 작품을 이해하는데 큰 문제는 없다. 재밌게 읽었다.
