Not only is Hayley trying to avoid renewing her relationship with her ex, she is trying to find the person that murdered his Uncle before Danny takes the fall. As always I enjoy spending time in Hayley's world. She is smart and funny and always figures out who the real killer is. I was disappointed in one area of this story. I've been reading about Hayley's antics for eight books now and she often makes decisions that I wouldn't, but, she does this to follow the clues and uses her brain because as I stated before she is smart....."

코지 미스터리장르 시리즈의 공식을 잘 따르는 작품이다. 이번 작품에서 드디어 전남편이 출현하고 여주인공의 연애 생활에 미묘한 분위기가 나타난다. 다른 작가들의 작품에서는 전남자 친구나 전남편이 여주인공 대신에 죽기도 하고 사건을 해결하는데 도움을 주기도 한다. 이 작품에서는 후자에 해당한다. 이런 이야기 전개는 막장 같은 분위기를 연출하기도 하는데 이번 작품에서도 막장 같은 장면들이 등장한다. 전남편의 애인, 전남자친구의 새로운 애인 등과 연결된 이야기가 작품의 대부분을 차지한다. 작품의 초중반까지 이야기의 전개속도가 느린 편이라 지루한 느낌이 들었다. 문장이나 표현은 전작들과 비슷해서 읽는데 큰 부담은 없다.
