" This book kept me guessing until the very end. I was looking in the wrong direction the whole time. I wasn’t even considering the person that turned out to be the villain. The suspense was really good. It kept me wanting more. Julia was an interesting leading lady. She was damaged, but used that to push her harder. The dynamic with her dad and their past made the story even more interesting. The book touched on how surviving children handle a parent’s suicide. I appreciated the way it was addressed. Novak and Julia’s romance wasn’t sweet and cuddly. It was authentic, but didn’t add anything to the overall story....."

'The Hangman'은 'Forgotten Files 시리즈의 마지막 작품이다. 세 작품들의 분위기는 비슷한 부분들이 많다. Cold Case(장기 미해결 사건)를 다룬다는 점, Shield Security라는 민간 조사단체가 등장하고 이전 작품들에 등장하는 인물들이 직간접적으로 사건해결에 참여한다는 점이 그렇고 특히 막판에 주인공이 범인과의 죽음을 무릅쓴 대치는 거의 같은 설정이다. 이 작품도 로맨스 스릴러장르이고 문장이나 표현이 난해하지 않기 때문에 진도는 잘 나가는 편이다. Knot, suicide, cheating, undercover, partners, drug, mafia, ruined samples, warehouses, family, demantia, rope, serial killer, revenge 등이 작품을 이해하는 핵심어들인 거 같다.
