오랜만에 다시 읽는 FBI시리즈다. 이 작가의 작품들을 다 읽은 것은 아니지만 다니엘 스틸의 작품과 비슷한 성격을 보여주는 거 같다. 다만 이 작가의 작품이 더 낯선 표현들을 많이 사용하는 거 같고 이야기의 구조도 더 복잡하게 그리고 길게 만들려고 하는 거 같다. 이 작품은 미스터리, 스릴러, 로맨스, 가족 장르 같은 다양한 이야기가 얽혀있다. 흔한 이야기 같으면서 색다른 느낌을 주는 재밌는 작품이다. 연쇄살인, 콜드 케이스, 쌍둥이, 고해성사, 도피, 가족의 관계, 사이코, 편지, 악, 구원, 치매, 유괴, 배신, 추격, 고백, 에피소드, 할리우드, 탐욕 등이 작품을 이해하는데 중요한 의미를 가지는 단어들이다. 문장구조는 평이한 편이고 가끔씩 등장하는 낯선 단어들이 있지만 작품을 이해하는데 큰 문제가 없기 때문에 읽어 볼만한 작품이다.
