영국드라마를 한편 본 듯한 느낌이다. 작가가 법에 대해서 잘아는 사람이라 영국의 법체계에 대한 설명이 비중있게 다루어 지는 편이다. 독자의 원서경험에 따라서 이해하는데 어려울 수도 있지만 전체의 흐름을 이해하는데 큰 문제는 없는거 같다. 그리고 영국도 미국 못지않은 전쟁을 치루는 국가이다보니 'veteran' 들에 대한 처우나 제도에 대해서 조금이지만 알게 되는 기회였다. 'murder' 'revenge' 'honor' 'money' 'greedy' 'asbestos' 'cave' 등이 중요한 단어들이다. 문장은 전체적으로는 크게 어렵지 않지만 중간중간에 집중을 요구하는 부분들이 등장한다. 인내를 갖고 읽으면 글을 이해하는데 큰 문제는 없다. 이 책도 'DI Nick Dixon 이라는 인물이 주인공으로 등장하는 시리즈물이다.
