Chapter & Hearse by Lorna Barrett

"Have you ever read a mystery and thought yeah I know who the killer is in the first few chapters. Well this book isn't like that at all. It kept me guessing up to the reveal. While Angelica is trying to hold a cookbook signing at Tricia's store, the History Repeats Itself store across the street blows up. A gas leak. The owner of the store is blown to death. Bob (Angelica's boyfriend) is also hurt in the explosion. This kicks off the story. There are many twists and turns along the way. Bob seems to be alright, so Angelica goes ahead with her book tour. Tricia is left trying to keep up with not only her store, but Angelica's store and her restaurant. Keeping up with 3 businesses and trying to figure out who the killer is takes up all of her time. Of course, she does come to the wrong conclusions at first. But she does figure it out. While all this is happening, Angelic is being tormented on the road. Her tires are slashed, headlights broken, words keyed into her car and someone trying to run her off the road. Are these acts connected to the murder? Bob is being very cagey, was he the actual target? ...." 

'gamble' 'jealousy' 'gas' 'fortune' 'fantasy' 'birthday' 'goodwill' 등이 주요한 단어인거 같다. 이번 작품은 좀 지루한 면이 있고 주인공이나 등장인물들 특히 주인공과 함께 일하는 인물들의 선행이나 행운 등은 이 작품의 재미를 떨어뜨리는 것 같다. 문장이나 표현이 비교적 무난하기에 읽을 수 있지만 큰 재미는 없었다. 이번에도 경찰들의 역할은 부족하다 못해 한심하다. 하지만 독자에 따라서 범인에 대한 반전은 긍정적으로 볼 수 있다.
