この本は大学の授業の為に読んだのですが、思ったよりも楽しんで読んでしまいました。初めての洋書長編小説だったのですが、結構スラスラ読めましたよ。　ストーリーは一本のテレビ番組に様々な形で関わる女性の日々を綴ったものです。女性の自立について考えさせられ、また、アメリカの食肉産業（と言うのでしょうか？）にも触れられています。これを読んだ後は肉を食べるのが怖くなるかも..................

리얼니티 프로그램 같은 'My American wife'를 중심으로 일본과 미국 사람들의 문화적 차이를 보여주는 작품이다. 미국산 소고기를 요리하는 소위 '건전'하고 '건강'한 미국 가정들을 대상으로 하는 요리프로그램을 제작하는 인물들의 이야기와 출연진들의 이야기를 보여주는 작품이다. 다양한 가족들이나 사람들이 등장하는 만큼 다양한 편견도 등장한다. 'Mad Cow'에 대한 사회적 우려는 우리도 경험한 이야기이기 때문에 쉽게 와닿는 이야기였다. 일본적 표현과 내용이 가끔씩 등장하지만 글을 이해하는 데는 큰 문제가 없다. 영어문장이나 표현은 크게 난해하지 않기 때문에 읽는데 큰 어려움은 없는 거 같다. 한국에서 입양된 애들의 이야기나 그와 관련된 이야기는 예상하지 못한 내용이었다.
