" he plotting is labyrinthine & very well organized, with a fine surprise ending. Quite good indeed. So all the more pity that PS can't write well. No dramatic tension, no atmosphere, no emotional innards, no good sentences. Plod, plod, plod, I got up at 7 and jumped in the shower, then I dressed and drove downtown, found a parking place in front of the bank...... This is not "sparse" writing, it's not "elegant" writing, it's Boring writing. Nor has he created characters. Everybody sounds and behaves the same way. No one has an inner life or any interesting quirks, even those who behave in the most weird or even psychopathic fashion, they are all just ciphers. That makes it very hard to keep up with the changing narrative points of view: all the alternating first-person narrators sound exactly alike so one keeps forgetting who is telling the story. Some authors do this sort of thing really well, but PS is not one of them....."

'Everyone dies. What difference does it make if a few bad apples get pushed along a little sooner than God intended? And your wife, for example, seems like the kind worth killing.'
