" 同じ作者の「そしてミランダを殺す」は傑作でしたが、それに匹敵します。ミステリー中心の古本屋店主（語り手で主人公）のところに、謎めいて蠱惑的なFBI捜査官が訪ねて来ます。８冊のミステリー本の殺しの手口をなぞらえたと疑える連続殺人が発生し、その捜査です。８冊の中には読んだ作品もありますが、読んでいないもの、読んだはずだが中身は忘れているものもあります。どんな殺人かは語り手が解説しますので、取り上げられる作品を事前に読んでいないと意味が分からないということはありませんので心配なく。最初に登場するＦＢＩ捜査官（女）に興味津々となり、もっと頻繁に登場して活躍してくれることを期待していましたが、そこは外れました。主人公が絶体絶命のピンチのときに、謎の美女が現れて急転直下の展開となるなどという、月並みな筋書きにはなりませんでした。読後に残った最大の謎は、主人公の名前が冠されたシリーズ第一弾（malcolm kershaw book 1）と副題に謳われていることです。今後この古本屋が活躍する余地が残っているとは思えず、過去に遡った物語になるのでしょうか。それとも出版社の担当が中身をよく読まず勝手にシリーズと銘打ったのか。book1と宣言しても、book2やbook3が出るとは限らないので、こちらの早急すぎる思い込みでしょうか。いずれにせよ次作期待です....." " Although I have a few books by this author, this is the first one I've read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. The steady pacing of the book was one of the best I've read. There are several twists throughout this book, and albeit - some are easy to figure out, a few add a little more flair to the story. A bookstore owner, a deceased wife, and reverence on the mind... who knew a blog from ten years ago could wreak so much havoc years later. Some descriptions have this labeled as horror, although it's not what I consider horror and is more of a true thriller. Still, this was such an excellent read for me! This book has made me even more excited to read more from this author, and I'm sure they will not disappoint....."
