RISING STRONG by BRENE BROWN

allybanrun 2018. 12. 12. 00:48

적어도 "The Gifts of Imperfection" "Daring Greatly" 정도가 아닐까 싶다.

- In fact, we learned that whe faced with either - or dilemmas, the first question we should ask is, 'Who benefits by forcing people to choose ?'

- The most useful knowledge about human behavior is based on people's lived experiences.

- While vulnerability is the birthplace of many of the fulfilling experiences we long for - love, belonging, joy, creativity, and trust, to name a few - the process of regainging our emotional footing in the midst of struggle is where our courage is tested and our values are forged. Rising strong after a fall is how we cultivate wholeheartedness in our lives ; it's the process that teaches us the most about who we are.

- Embracing failure without acknowledging the real hurt and fear that it can cause, or the complex journey that underlies rising strong, is gold - plating grit.

- Good made the powerful point that there's a vast difference between how we think about the term failure and how we think about the people and organization brave enough to share their failures for the purpose of learning and growing.

- Rather than gold-plating grit and trying to make failure look fashionable, we'd be better off learning how to recognize the beauty in truth and tenacity.

- In addition to having people who are willing to show up and be seen, we also need a critical mass of badasses who are willing to dare, fall, feel their way through tough emotion, and rise again.

- We need to be selective about the feedback we let into our lives.

- Knowledge is only a rumor until it lives in the muscle. What we understand and learn about rising strong is only rumor until we live it and integrate it through some form of creativity so that it becomes part of us.

- The goal of this rising strong process is to rise from our falls, overcome our mistakes, and face hurt in a way that brings more wisdom and wholeheartedness.

- Mem and women who rise strong are willing and able to reckon with their emotions.....

- Men and women who rise strong are willing and able to rumble with their stories ..... The rumble is where wholeheartedness is cultivated and change begins.

- Rumbling with our story and owing our truth in order to write a new, more courageous ending transforms who we are and how engage with the world ....

- Mem and women who rise strong integrate the key learnings that emerge from the rising strong process into how they live, love, lead, parent, and participate as citizens.

- Steve Jobs believed that "creativity is just connecting things." He believed that creating was connecting the dots between the experiences we've had, to synthesize new things. He argued that this is only possible if we have more experiences or devote more time to thinking about our experience.

- Choosing to write our own story means getting uncomfortable ; it's choosing courage over comfort.

-Choosing to be curious is choosing to be vulnerable because it requires us to surrender to uncertanity. It wasn't always choice ; we were born curious. But over time, we learn that curiosity, like vulnerability, can lead to hurt .....

- Einstein said, "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence." Curiosity's reason for existing is not simply to be a tool used in acquiring knowledge ; it reminds us that we're alive.

- Owning our stories means reckoning with our feelings and rumbling with our dark .......

- In a culture of scarcity and perfectionism, asking for help can be shaming if we're not raised to understand how seeking help is human and foundational to connection.

- Failure can become nourishment if we are willing to get curious, show up vulnerable and human, and put rising strong into practice.
