Both in substance and in style" 정말 많은 사람들이 좋아하는 작품인거 같다. 하지만 책을 구입할 때 장르를 참고하기 바란다. 독자에 따라서 다른 평가가 생길 수 있는 장르이다. 편견을 버리고 읽어 보면 시간낭비의 책은 절대 아니다. 비영어권 독자들 또는 영화를 먼저 본 사람들은 영어원서를 구입하는 경향이 있는거 같다. 다만 이 책의 느낌을 이해하면서 원서를 읽고 싶다면 노력이 필요하다는 것을 .... 심리묘사가 중요한 서술방식을 차지하는 문학이 이해하기에 힘든 경우가 많고 소재가 민감하다보니 작가가 나름 고민하면서 글을 쓴거 같다. 너무 가벼워도 ... 너무 무거워도 ... 이런 장르의 글은 독자들이 다가가기 힘들다. 아름다운 배경과 등장인물들의 조화는 이 책의 장점인거 같다. 플라톤과 미셀푸코덕분에 사랑이라는 것이 남녀만의 것이 아니라는 것을 알았지만 ... 이 책에 대한 평가에서 '아름다운 사랑의 이야기' 라는 부분에 대해서 다시 생각해보는 계기가 되었다. 핵심어는 avoiding, feigning, touching, facing, forgiving, time, understanding, waiting, cruel, music, literature, philosophy, lonely, reunion 등이다.
