성인 대상의 로맨틱 미스터리물이다. 비교적 높은 수준의 표현(?)이나 내용이 등장하는 작품이다. 사실 이런 작품을 그다지 좋아하지 않기 때문에 초반에는 좀 지루하다는 생각을 했다. 과거의 어떤 사연으로 가족과 인연을 끊고 살던 여주인공이 어느날 동생의 자살소식을 듣고 고향으로 향하면서 일어나는 이야기다. 사실 어디선가 많이 듣고 보고한 이야기가 아닐까 하는 생각을 할 것이다. 카인과 아벨의 이야기, 복수를 위한 위장과 거짓, 만연된 부패와 권력, 잘못된 부정, 두 남녀의 헛튼 짓(?) 이야기의 신선함은 좀 부족하지만 ... 작품의 후반에 가면 작가가 나름 이야기를 잘 적어서 그런지 읽을 만하다. 가끔씩 등장하는 낯선 단어들이 있지만 읽는데 큰 문제는 없을 것이다.
