" Sophie gets an odd request from her friend and mentor, Melanie O’Reilly, and feels compelled to help her out. Melanie, who is married to a man involved in a political campaign, suspects her husband of infidelity. She asks Sophie to try to seduce him to see if he is eager to take the bait, so to speak. Fortunately, Eugene O’Reilly proves to be an honest man, unfortunately, he is shot and killed in a drive-by shooting just minutes after parting ways with Sophie. Feeling sorry for her friend and determined to keep her ex-boyfriend, Anatoly (a private investigator) from getting the case, Sophie decides to play detective again. Sophie discovers multiple suspects and signs that point to some sort of cover up related to the political campaign Eugene was involved in. Of course, while searching for clues and trying to find the killer, Sophie herself starts getting odd threats and unwittingly attracts the attention of the very man she set out to avoid ...."

Sophie 시리즈의 세 번째 작품이다. 역시 수다(?)가 많은 작품이다. 하지만 전작에 비해서는 생산적인(?) 수다가 많은 편이었다. 유머러스하고 다양한 의미를 갖는 표현들이 등장하는 대사들은 읽는 재미가 있었다. 작품을 다 읽어보면 저자가 단어나 표현등을 통해서 복선이나 중심 이야기를 암시해주고 있다는 것을 잘 알 수 있다. 막판의 반전이나 사건의 결말은 놀랐다. 다루고 있는 내용이나 묘사등을 볼 때 성인대상의 작품이 아닌가 싶다. liar, embalmed, cheating, religious belief, the wrong place at the wrong time, neck and neck, furry, delirious, ado, Republicans, politicians, funeral to get credit for mourning, flirting, jack-of-all-trades, curiosoty kills a cat, subliminal, interview, tarnish reputation, speak ill of, scruples, glass houses, note, letters, suicide, peon, infamy, abstinence, moral, underage, practice what he preaches, coincidence, scandalous tidbit, scintillating, van, Jewish, Darth Vader, impersonating, stalker, drive-by shooting, Pink bear, truck, culpable, extramartial affair, chlamydia, furry party, hypocrite, plans, hoax, barnyard games, manufacture, entrusted, affiliation, relationships, revenge 등이 중요한 표현등이다. 속어 같은 낯선 단어들이 많이 등장하지만 읽는데 큰 문제는 없는 거 같다.
