" This short work was a bit pricey for an advertised 44 pages. But early reviews were good, so I paid up and downloaded. Quite frankly, just the first 3 pages were worth the cost of admission. As the story begins, it is 1989 and Reacher is still a major in the U.S. Army’s military police. He is called out of Central America to take over a new CID unit at Fort Benning when its original CO is seriously injured in an auto accident. Before Reacher can even get a cup of coffee and sort out his team, the unit is informed of the shooting death of an officer outside Ft. Smith. No other details or investigation notes are provided so Reacher decides to use the case as a teaching tool for his new team. But, as the promotional blurb for this work states, the death is an execution, not an accident, and Reacher has to take over the investigation....."

Jack Reacher 시리즈의 19.5에 해당하는 단편작품이다. Personal (19)과 Make Me(20) 사이에 출판된 작품이다. 그의 다른 작품들의 10분의 1 정도에 해당하는 약 44페이지 정도의 단편이다. 장황한 묘사나 주인공의 액션(?)이 좀 적은 것을 제외하고 거의 같은 구조를 가지고 있다. Reacher가 헌병으로 근무할 때 발생한 여장교 살인사건의 수사를 다루고 있다. Reacher의 형인 Joe Reacher 의 등장과 그의 역할이 인상적이다. 문장이나 표현 모두 비슷한 수준이다.
