Hemlock Bay by Catherine Coulter

" Ms. Coulter's books are always an enjoyable read and Hemlock Bay is no exception! This member of her FBI series focuses on Dylan's sister Lily and their grandmother, Sarah Elliott's, paintings. I enjoyed the glimpses into the world of high priced art . There's the usual mayhem and a particularly gruesome paranormally-endowed murderer demanding Savich's attention plus a nice dose of romance between Dylan's buddy Simon and Lily. I think the paranormal aspect could have been more fleshed out or left out. To me it felt very incomplete. Likewise the portrayal of Sarah Elliott is quite one-dimensional and trite but perhaps I'm being picky. I very much enjoyed the descriptions of Lily's cartoon politician "No Wrinkles Remus" who bears a great likeness to many of today's political "leaders." All in all not her finest but certainly enjoyable and worth the time and money if you like Ms. Coulter's FBI series or just enjoy the police procedurals genre....."

전에 읽은 FBI 시리즈이다. 이전부터 나오던 FBI요원들은 조연이자 이야기의 해결사로 계속 등장하고 작품의 여주인공과 새로운 FBI요원과의 사랑의 로맨스가 이야기의 중심이 되는 것은 공통적인 이야기 전개다. 특히 한가지 사건이 아니라 두 가지 이상의 사건을 다룬다는 점이 이 시리즈의 매력이다. 사실 중심이야기보다는 악마를 불러들이는 사이코들의 이야기가 더 흥미롭다. 문장의 구조는 무난한 편이지만 인터넷의 도움을 받아야 하는 표현들도 있기 때문에 원서 경험에 따라서 난이도가 다르게 느껴지기도 할 수 있다. 중반 이후로 이야기의 흐름이 보이기 때문에 인내심을 갖고 초반을 넘겨야 한다.
