allybanrun 2025. 2. 15. 18:08" Writer Nathan Fawles has written his last book. Keeping a low profile on the small French island of Beaumont, Fawles shuns requests for interviews and wants nothing more on his plate than whatever the local cafe has on its chalkboard. Aspiring writer Raphael Bataille is on Beaumont to mind the one and only bookshop. Awed by Fawles’ literary successes, Raphael wants Fawles to read his manuscript. Swiss journalist Mathilde Monney is after an interview with Fawles. Her agenda is unclear. One thing that is clear however, is that she is not taking no for an answer. Paths collide. I had an idea what the big reveal would be but was, thankfully, spectacularly wide of the mark. Like the very best of small town mysteries, secrets are juicy and, getting to the facts will be a long and very winding road. With a deliciously small cast, characterisation needed to be absolutely spot on. It was. Right until the very end, you cannot assume that you know who has done what or what drove their actions. This was masterful storytelling. I loved every word of it...."
