Cold Comfort: A Novella (Inspector Ian Rutledge) by Charles Todd

" The premise of this book is both scary and possible in today's society. This alone makes it a riveting read. The main character is pretty well drawn but some of the supporting characters pop in and out so quickly that it is hard to say whether or not they are as well done as they could be. The ending was rather abrupt and not as well thought out as I would have liked. It was almost as though the authors got to a certain page count and decided to end the story. It could have been better if there had been an epilogue or something to wrap up the loose ends....." " I rarely read short stories or novellas - they're over too quickly and just too compressed! However, I read all the Ian Rutledge series, which is very well written, and wait impatiently for the next book to be released, so I read Cold Comfort while waiting for the next full-sized book to come out. I was pleasantly surprised to meet for the first time the living Hamish McLeod and recommend this novella and the entire series to any discerning reader who enjoys reading a whopping good mystery with well developed characters in a historical setting....."
