"This is the first in a series of 13. It was a pleasure to read a novel, in this genre, that was well played out. Characters are believable, as well as the action scenes. The author uses comedy relief to add depth to the main character, making him likable" "First you smile, then laugh right out loud...and realize that you have just read the first six pages of The Inside Ring by Mike Lawson.... that is rapidly grinding itself into an ugly composite of greed, deceit and people who take themselves very seriously, namely politicians, to encounter a genuine character like Joe DeMarco is a happy discovery" "ある大統領の暗殺未遂事件に始まる捜査サスペンスもの。The Inside Ringとは、大統領の護衛のことらしいです。調査を依頼された Joe DeMarcoは、ドロドロした人間相関図の中に命がけで入りながら真相に迫っていきます。登場人物も多彩で、最後まで驚きの展開が続きます。これはシリーズになりそうな予感がします。著者は新人ということですが、しっかりと構築されたプロットと分かりやすい英語は、もうベテランの域に達していると思います。主なキャラは多く、Joe DeMarco、John Fitzpatrick Mahoney、Andy Banks、Harold Mark Edwards、Emma、Patrick Donnelly, Max Tayler、Billy Ray Mattis、Dale Estep、Philip Montogomeryあたりに注目して読むといいかも。第2作目がとても楽しみです.."

DeMarco 라는 인물이 등장하는 시리즈 작품이다. 주인공은 대통령 암살시도를 둘러싼 음모를 목숨을 걸고 해결한다. 해결과정에서 고생을 하는건 확실하나 결과적으로는 운이 참 좋은 사람이다. 대중적인 책이라서 그런지 누구나 쉽게 읽을 수 있고 즐길 수 있는 작품이다. 진도가 잘나가는 책이다. 다만 결말 부분이 좀 식상하다는 생각을 했다. 처음 접한 작가이지만 재밌게 읽었다. 다음 작품도 조만간에 읽어봐야게다고 생각하고 있다.
