Of course there is the hunk too...Luc who initially is there to investigate Maryse but finds himself helping her when someone is trying to kill her. Some of the questions raised in this book are not answered so to find out who killed Helena ....." "I’ve read and enjoyed Jana DeLeon’s Fortune series, set in Sinful La., so I decided to give this other series of hers a try. I think I actually like this first Mudbug book better than the series series. The Sinful series is very funny but not at all realistic while this book definitely has laughs but—other than having a ghost as a central character—is more realistic. The romance between Maryse and Luc is believably passionate and the supporting characters, although not very well-developed, are also believable. I recommend this book for anyone looking for some light and enjoyable reading ...."

이 작가의 다른 시리즈인 'Miss Fortune'을 몇 편 읽었다. 'Trouble in Mudbug'은 'Maryse'라는 인물이 주인공으로 등장하는 다른 시리즈 작품이다. 이 작품도 'Miss Fortune' 못지않게 유머러스하다. 읽으면서 많이 웃었다. 물론 황당한 이야기적 요소가 있지만 전체적으로 잘 쓰인 작품인 거 같다. 계속되는 의문의 사건들과, 의문의 살인, 유산의 조항, 화학물 폐기, 폭발, 총격, 치료제, 고발, 위장요원 등의 다양한 이야기가 등장하는 재밌는 작품이다. 예상을 능가하는 반전은 이 작품의 또 다른 매력이다. 다만 중요한 사건이 해결되지 않고 끝난다는 점이 단점이라면 단점이다. 아마 다음 작품도 읽어라는 작가의 의도가 아닌가 싶다. 전체적으로 문장의 구성이 평이한 편이고 진도가 잘 나가는 편이지만 단어나 표현들은 독자의 원서경험에 따라서 사전이나 인터넷의 도움을 받아야 하는 부분도 있는 거 같다.
