Although I think that some of the mistery turned out to be a little "cheesy" for my taste, I still think this is the best Reacher books I`ve read so far. I was glued to the pages and spent every free seconds of my free time reading it, so if I rate the experience purely I cannot give this one fewer than 5 stars....."

작가의 다른 작품들처럼 벽돌같은 부피를 자랑하는 작품이다. 장면이나 인물의 심리적 묘사가 구체적이고 상당한 분량을 차지하고 있는 작품이다. 이런 스타일을 존중하지만 이야기 전개가 느리다는 느낌을 갖게 된다. 여러 개의 사건들이 하나로 끝나는 장면에서는 작가의 큰 그림을 이해할 수도 있지만 거기까지 가는 과정에 노력이 필요하다. 문장이나 표현이 읽기에 무난하다는 평이 좀 있는 거 같은데.... 그의 다른 작품들에 비해서는 조금(?) 읽는데 편했던 거 같다. 'Jack Reacher' 영화나 드라마를 보고 원서에 도전하는 것은 좋지만 책을 읽는데 투자할 수 있는 시간이나 노력의 계산이 필요하다.  squabbling, turf, rebuffed, mustered out, protection rackets, injustice, harassed, perpetrator, innocent until proven guilty, catch-22, vigilante, Miranda, complainant, go-between, emotional flip-flop, tub, signature, paint, humiliation, punishment, factoring in, profiling, I can't worry about something I can't change, in the midst of life is death, cutting corner, a problem shared is a problem halved, carton, quartermaster, gentle strangulation, scratches, phraseology, footloose, plain-vanilla motive, falsifying, house of cards, farrago, decoy, padre and a bird colonel, hypnotized, fair, luggage, inheritance, weapons theft, kiss, compromise 등이 작품을 이해하는데 중요한 표현들이다.
